Main Units:

The Biomag 2 unit has a range of frequencies offering a range of treatment options from soft tissue injuries, fracture repair enhancement and pain relief.

The FFU offers the principal range of frequencies of the Biomag 2, but is internally set to a single frequency. This makes it the ideal unit for hire to owners as the physiotherapist can ensure that their recommended regime is adhered to.

Applicator specifics:

For optimum benefit, the main unit has to be set to the frequency appropriate for the condition being treated. For example, pain relief requires a base frequency of 200Hz and a constant pulse frequency. Guidance is given in the unit manual.

The Equine leg applicator has dual coils and wraps around the limb. It can be used to treat soft tissue injuries and to enhance the repair of long bone fractures. It is also used for tendon injuries and can, using the appropriate setting on the main unit, act as an ice pack for new injuries.

The Triple Concentric applicator was initially designed for treatment of equine sacro-iliac problems as it generates a significant depth of field using its unique triple coil alignment. However, it is also valuable in canine therapy since it can be placed under the dog (or even under the dog bed) to allow the provision of pain relief.

The Canine leg applicator operates on similar line to the equine leg applicator. It is available in small or large sizes according to requirements.

The Canine jacket is an extremely versatile design. Having 4 coils in pockets, 2 on each side, iIt allows treatment to be given to hip and shoulder, for instance in arthritic dogs. However, by reversing one coil on each side, it also enables treatment of the fore or rear areas of the spine.

The Equine Saddle type applicator can be placed over the withers, saddle area or rear. It has 2 sets of dual coils at each end of the broad saddle mat. Clips placed just above each coil enable adjustment of the coils spacing to provide an optimum range of areas for treatment.

Phototherapy Applicators:

The Westville Imita Units offer both Phototherapy treatment (laser) and Pulsed magnetic therapy.

The Imita 30 (VR) has 30 high intensity visible red emitters for healing of wounds and scar reduction, but has also proved useful for deeper tendon injuries. The unit has also a single pulsed coil with individual switch control. This allows the option of additional PMF treatment to be offered simultaneously.

The Imita 30 (B) has 30 high intensity blue emitters. It is designed specifically for application to infected wounds due to its antibacterial effect. As with the above applicator, a single field coil is included and can be used simultaneously to the Phototherapy if required.
Both of the above units should be used set to 1400Hz, which has been identified from our research as having the optimum effect. However, if the pulsed coil is to be used at the same tie, settings should be adjusted to a lower frequency of 50 or 200 Hz.
